Hi Mate,
               I can tell u what is an electrode in simple words. two metal rods which conducts electricity through it and also helps in dissociation ( seperation of a compound into charges particles) in a given solution when dipped into it. If u want more details...take the example of electrolysis of water. 2 rods are placed in a solution connected to a cell and then to a bulb. take acidified water and dip the electrodes into the solution of acidified water.the water starts conducting because current flows through the rods. after this happens, water starts to decompose into hydrogen & oxygen.so a metal rod helps in this process by helping in passing the current through it and that is an electrolyte.
