An electron is a negatively charged subatomic particle. It can be either free (not attached to any atom), or bound to the nucleus of an atom. Electrons in atoms exist in spherical shells of various radii, representing energy levels. The larger the spherical shell, the higher the energy contained in the electron.

⭕Discovery :

These negatively charged particle were discovered by JJ Thomson in 1897. In this experiment gases at low pressure was taken in a discharge tube made up of Glass. At the end of discharge two electrons were placed, connected to a battery for high voltage supply. The he electrode connected to negative and was known as cathode and that to the positive as anode. he then observed a stream of negatively charged particle coming out of cathode to anode these particles were called electron. ☘️☘️
