Definition: Electromagnetic waves or EM waves are waves that are created as a result of vibrations between an electric field and a magnetic field. In other words, EM waves are composed of oscillating magnetic and electric fields. They are also perpendicular to the direction of the EM wave and and have certain characteristics, including amplitude, wavelength, and frequency. General Properties of all electromagnetic radiation: Electromagnetic radiation can travel through empty space.

Waves which are associated with electric as well as magnetic field are known as EM waves..
CHARACTERSTICS--------------------~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- these are associated with magnetic and electric field which are perpendicular to each other and also with direction of waves.
- speed of EM waves is equals to speed of light.
- they can travel in vacuum that means that does not require any medium to travel.
