Epithelial tissue is a thin, continous, protective layer of cells. It covers the external surface of the body. It also forms the outer lining of internal organs as well as various body cavities. Epithelial tissues may be flat, cuboidal or columnar in shape. The epithelial tissue perrforms various functions such as protection of condensing tissues, selective absorption of material, secretion and perception.
