I : 1

II : 2

III : 3

IV : 4 (Smaller → bigger is subtraction.)

V : 5

VI : 6 (Bigger → smaller is addition.)

VII : 7

VIII : 8

IX : 9

Tens

X : 10

L : 50

Hundreds

C : 100

D : 500

Thousands

M : 1000

IV and VI are good examples of Romal numerals.

Same rules apply for bigger numbers, such as MMM(1000+1000+1000).

And CM(1000-100).
