Equivalent equations:

Equivalent equations are two or more equations that have the same solution or solutions. In other words, they represent the same mathematical relationship, but they may be written in different forms.

To find equivalent equations, we can use various algebraic operations to change or simplify the equations without changing the solution.

An equation can be changed by adding or subtracting and multiplying or dividing both sides of the equation by the same non-zero value.

Examples of equivalent equations:

1. 2x + 5 = 11 and 2x = 6 are equivalent equations.

Here 2x + 5 = 11 can be simplified as follows

Subtract 5 on both sides

=> 2x + 5 - 5 = 11 - 5

=> 2x = 6 which is the same as the second equation

2. 3(x - 2) = 6 and x - 2 = 2 are equivalent equations.

Here 3(x - 2) = 6 can be simplified

Divided by 3 into both sides

=> 3(x - 2)/3 = 6/3

=> (x - 2) = 2 which is the same as the second equation
