Erythrocytes are the red blood cells .

Red blood cells are red in colour due to the presence of haemoglobin which is also an oxygen carrier .

These cells are formed in red bone marrow .

Structure:-

  • These are biconcave and are disc like structure.

  • They are red in colour .

  • Their size is of approximately 7-8 micron.

  • Shape varies as they have no organelles inside them.

  • There life span is of about 120 days after that they become non - functional

Disentigration:-

After they become non functional they gets destroyed in spleen.

Spleen is the graveyard of Red blood cells .
