Erythrocytes are red blood cells that travel in the blood. Their characteristics of being red, round, and like rubber give them the ability to complete their specific functions. They carry oxygen from the lungs to the body, and bring carbon dioxide back to the lungs to be expelled.

Erythrocytes are the red blood cells .

Red blood cells are red in colour due to the presence of haemoglobin which is also an oxygen carrier .

These cells are formed in red bone marrow .

These are biconcave and are disc like structure.

They are red in colour .

Their size is of approximately 7-8 micron.

Shape varies as they have no organelles inside them.

There life span is of about 120 days after that they become non - functional.

After they become non functional they gets destroyed in spleen.

Spleen is the graveyard of Red blood cells .
