Nematodes are also known as Nematyhelminthes.

1. These are aquatic , terrestrial parasitic forms commonly called round worms.

2. These are bilaterally symmetrical, triplobastic, Unsegmented and pseudo coelemate organisms.

3. Body elongated, cylindrical, slender and tapering at the two ends.

4. Body with thick cuticle.

5. Straight alimentary canal with mouth and anus.

6. Circulatory and respiratory organs are absent.

7. Excretion by protonephridium with canals.

8. Reproduce sexually, fertilisation is internal.

9. Animals included in this phylum are generally parasitic and cause diseases.
