Inexhaustible Resources:-

The resources that are present in unlimited quantities and cannot be exhausted by human activities are known as inexhaustible resources.

Example:-

  • Sunlight
  • Air
  • Rainfall

Exhaustible Resources:-

The resources that are present in limited quantities and can be easily exhausted by human activities over a certain period of time are known as exhaustible resources.

Example:-

  • Coal
  • Petroleum
  • Natural gas

Exhaustible Resources are of 2 types:-

  • Renewable resources
  • Non-Renewable resources

Renewable resources:- These resources can replenish themselves by quick recycling with a particular time period, are known as renewable resources. They resources cannot be exhausted, but excessive and unwise use may lead to their depletion.

Example:-

  • Wildlife
  • Soil

Non-Renewable resources:- These resources cannot replenish themselves by period of time. Once they're are used fully leads to their depletion.

Example:-

  • Coal
  • Petroleum

An inexhaustible resource is one that is replaceable, while an exhaustible resource is not replaceable, hence wind, sunlight and water are inexhaustible resources while other are exhaustible resources.
