A famine is a widespread scarcity of food
caused by factors which include war, inflation,
crop failure, population imbalance, government
policies etc. During famines , food shortages
occur which leads to widespread hunger and
starvation in many areas. Also the mortality
rate decreases due to lack of nutrition and
there can be widespread epidemics of many
diseases. Africa is a continent where many
famines occur and where millions of people
die due to this. The most affected people are
the poorest section of the society who don't
even afford to buy basic amenities.
