Farm animals include horses, cows, sheep, goats, deer, pigs. They were originally called this because they were found on farms.

They are also called livestock. They are also considered 'production animals', used for milk, cheese, milk, leather, wool, etc.

Over the last 70 years, horses have been reclassified as a companion animals, included in the group with dogs, cats, exotics, etc.

These classifications are constantly changing as animals become more and more integrated as social necessities rather than luxuries - such as service animals for the blind, the anxious, etc.

The classifications are also changing in light of increased awareness of speciesism, one of the last isms that is generating traction politically.
