Feast is also called festival, day or period of time set aside to commemorate, ritually celebrate or reenact, or anticipate events or seasons—agricultural, religious, or sociocultural—that give meaning and cohesiveness to an individual and to the religious, political, or socioeconomic community.
The saints are remembered on their individual feast days with special mention, prayers, and possibly a scripture reading. A saint's feast day can be the day of their actual death or a day assigned by the Church.
