A FIBRE:

  • A fibre is a thin strand like structure, obtained from natural sources or artificially made which are then spun into yarns and then woven into fabrics.

  • Fibres are classified into two types:
  1. Natural fibres.
  2. Artificial fibres.

NATURAL FIBRES:

  • The fibres which are obtained from natural sources like plants and animals are natural fibres.
  • Examples: Jute (plant stem), Silk (silkworm- animal), Cotton (fruit of plant), Wool (sheep- animal)

  • ‎Natural fibres are eco friendly and good absorbers of sweat, so it is mostly preferred in clothings.

ARTIFICIAL FIBRES:

  • ‎ ‎The fibres which are artificially made and synthesized by humans are artificial fibres.
  • Examples: Rayon, Acrylic, Nylon, etc.

  • ‎ These fibres are used to make cloth materials and in the manufacture of fishing nets, ropes, raincoats, etc. Artificial fibres are preferred than natural fibres due to its following properties:
  • High durability.
  • Doesn't gets wrinkled easily.
  • Easily stretched.
  • Strong.
  • Cheap.
