Figures of speech is an expression that departs from ordinary mode of speech in order to achieve a more powerful,pleasing or distinctive effect.
Figurative language is an important resource of poetry.
Figures of speech are:
1)SIMILE-
Simile shows likeness between two things .It is usually introduced by the words 'as'and 'like'.
Example -He roars like a lion.
2)METAPHOR-
Metaphor is implied simile.There are no words like 'as'and 'Like'to show resemblances.
Example -He was lion in fight. (Meaning -He fought like a lion)
