Adhesion force:-

→ Adhesion forces primarily occur when an ice cover adfreezes to a structure and, by horizontal and vertical movement of the ice field, causes considerable forces to be transferred to the structure. Oksanen (1983) found that brine cells weaken the contact surface between ice and other materials because of imperfections at the boundary that act as centers of stress concentrations.

This causes a breakdown in the adhesion strength even at low brine volume, which seems to remain at a constant level with increased concentrations.
