Forest-based Industry includes- the paper industry, match industry, silk industry, lac industry, sports goods industry and handicraft. Soft wood-In India, soft wood (of coniferous trees) is obtained from the Himalayan region.

The various industries which are based on forest produce are; timber industry, paper manufacturing industry, 'lac' industry and sports equipment industry.
