Fossils are the remains or traces of plants and animals that lived long ago.
When a plant or an animals dies, their remains falls on the ground. Over a period of time their body gets covered by sediments brought by rivers, winds etc and forms fossil
geotropism:
it means that the root of the plant grows downward due to gravity

Fossils are the preserved impression of dead animals or plants
Geotropism is the movement of plant towards earth.The shoot of a plant grow against the earth. So it is negatively geotropic. Root grow towards earth.So it is positively geotropic.
