Fossils are evolutionary traces of the things of the geological past. When we carbon date to find the isomers of the elements at that time we come to know about the evolutionary traces. We people came to about the existence of Dinosaurs only because of the fossils, which enabled us to know that we had our common ancestor but with variations.
