The chemically very stable CFCs diffuse up into the stratosphere and eventually decompose when hit by ultraviolet light (uv) high energy photons to produce free radicals, including free chlorine atoms, which themselves are highly reactive free radicals.

➡️Free radicals, also known simply as radicals, are organic molecules responsible for aging, tissue damage, and possibly some diseases. These molecules are very unstable, therefore they look to bond with other molecules, destroying their health and further continuing the damaging process. ⬅️❤️✌️

➡️light energy is needed to produce radicals.✌️
