A functional group is the group which remains bonded with Carbon by covalent bonds (single or double or triple). an atom or group of atoms which largely determines the properties of a particular family of organic compounds is called as functional groups. Examples are Ketone(C=O), Aldehyde (-CHO), Alcohol (-OH), etc

Ipsita156: An atom or a group of atom which makes a carbon compound reactive and decides it's properties is called a functional group.ex:-ALDEHYDES(-CHO),KETONE(-OH-)
