The functional group is defined as an atom or group of atoms joined in a specific manner, which gives the chemical properties of the organic compound and are the centers for chemical reactivity.

Example: Alkanes and Ketones are two different functional groups.

Ciao,
An atom or a group of atoms or a double bond or a triple bond whose presence imparts specific properties to organic compounds ( compounds having carbon and hydrogen ) is called functional group.
Example c=c has functional group of double bond and is an alkene.
-oH has hydroxyl group and called alcohol.
- NH2 has amino group and called as amines.
really hope that you will find it helpful.stay blessed ☺

srushti34: tq u
hira62: no worries ☺
