Basically FCI main functions are: procurement of the food grains as per msp, preservation of the procured stock, movement of food grains from procurement states to deficient states as per requirement.
Functions of Food Corporation of India (FCI) :
i) Protect interest of farmer by procuring food grains.
ii) Protect consumers from much price fluctuation dew to crop failure or other reasons.
iii) Maintain minimum buffer stock so that unforseen situation is met with that stock .
iv) Preservation of food grains as because no one other than FCI has ability to store and
preserve waste quantity of food grains .
v) Transport food grains from excessive production areas to lacking areas so that accessibility of food can be
confirmed all over India.
