fundamental quantities are the physical quantities which do not depend upon other physical quantities to be expressed.

They can exist on their own .

Ex : length

       SI unit is meter and CGS unit is cm

    : time

       Both SI unit and CGS unit of time is second .

Derived quantities are the physical quantities which depend on other physical quantities to be expressed .

Ex : F = ma

      here , force is a derived quantity . SI unit is newton and CGS unit is dyne .

    : V = S / T

       here , speed is a derived quantity . SI unit is m/s and CGS unit is cm/s
