Let us first know -

Physical Quantities - Those quantities which can be measured by an instrument and which describes the laws of physical world.

Types of Physical quantities -

  • Fundamental PQ
  • Fundamental PQDerived PQ
  • Fundamental PQDerived PQSupplementary PQ

Fundamental Physical quantities are those which do not depend on other Physical quantities.

Length , Time, Mass, Amount of substance etc.

Derived Physical quantities are those which are made of fundamental quantities.

e.g

  • Area --> m^2 --> Length × Length
  • Force --> m/s --> length/time

Hope this helps.
