Gametes are always pure because gametes are haploid. They do not possess homologous chromosomes instead they possess one chromosome of each type and it is either dominant or recessive. For example: a gamete possesses a "tall" allele of a gene responsible for the growth of plant. It can not possess both tall and short alleles at a time. That is why, it is said that gametes are always pure.

The gametes are said to be pure for a trait because they are homozygous and haploid in nature.

Explanation:

The gametes are nothing but they are the germ cells which are involved in reproduction process. The "male gamete is called as sperm" whereas the "female gamete is called as egg". When these two gametes fuses with each other, as a result of fertilization, the two haploid nucleus leads to formation of diploid zygote.
