Hello!!

GENE
》 A gene is the basic physical and functional unit of heredity.

FUNCTIONS OF GENE
》 Each gene occupies a specific position on a chromosome.

》They occupies the specific position on a chromosome becoz genes provide instructions for making proteins, and proteins determine the structure and function of each cell in the body, it follows that genes are responsible for all the characteristics you inherit.

Genes are hereditary units of life. They are passed on from parents to their children. They help to determine the character of the offspring by giving instructions like, how they appear, behaviour etc.. They are made of DNA and genes also help in making protein molecules.

Hope this helps!!
