Genes are the basic unit of inheritance which contain the genetic information for all the life processes.

Genes are responsible for all the processes taking place inside the body, whether it is formation of any enzyme, hormone, protein, etc. all is done, or more precisely, is maintained by genes.

Chromosomes have certain locations or areas or regions where these genes are present. These regions or locations are called LOCUS.

Sister chromatids contain same gene on same locus, or you can say, genes present on similar locus, are responsible for a particular factor which may be you height, hair color, eye color or even if you'll be having hairs or not.

Basically, everything happening inside our body is maintained by genes.
