Golgi Bodies/ Golgi Apparatus

- It is a single membrane bound organelle in a cell.
- It is formed from the broken/ruptured ends of Endoplasmic Reticulum.
- It was first discovered by Camilo Golgi in the nerve cells of Barn Owl and cat in 1848.
- In plant cells its called dictyosomes.
- It has 3 parts -
i) Cisternae
ii) Vessicles
iii) Tubules

Functions of Golgi Bodies ---

- It is mainly secretory in function.
- It helps in packaging, storing,modification of substances.
- It helps in the formation of lysosomes and acrosomes

\huge\textbf{Golgi Bodies :}

Golgi Bodies are also called Golgi Appartus. It is 1st discovered by Cemillo Golgi. It consists of membrane bound structures parallel to each other. They are Vacuole, Cisterina and Vesicle. It is disc shaped sac like structure.

It is also known as post office of cell.

These are present in Eukaryotic cells.

Freely distributed subunits of Golgi Appartus known as Dictyosomes.
