The primary reproductive organs that produce reproductive cells or gametes are called gonads.

In males, gonads(testes) secrete testosterone hormone. Testosterone regulates the development of reproductive organs and secondary sexual characteristics at puberty such as deepening of voice, growth of facial and body hair and so on.

In females, gonads(ovaries) secrete progesterone and oestrogen hormone. They regulate the development of reproductive organs and secondary sexual characteristics at puberty such as high-pitched voice and so on.
