Greenhouse gases are those gases which traps the infrared rays of the sun that reaches the earth's surface and prevent it from bouncing back into outer space. At night they release the trapped heat. This helps to regulate the temperature of the earth at night when there is no sunshine, otherwise our entire earth would freeze.

Some important greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide(co2),sulphurdioxide(so2),carbon monoxide, water vapour etc.
