Gymnosperms do not have true flowers. They bear cones. Their seeds are not placed in an enclosed structure but they develop inside the cones. Cones are both male and female types. Male cones produce pollen, which are blown by wind to reach the female cones. Female cones bear ovules. Ovules develop into seeds.

Gymnosperms ('gymnos ')means naked and ('sperma') means seed are either trees or bushes with roots, stem and leaves. Most Gymnosperms are evergreen, i. e., they do not shed all their leaves at a time. Leaves are long and needle shaped. Such leaves are not damaged by snow or frost. They also help to conserve water. These plants mainly grow in cold and mountainous areas.

Examples :- Pine, Fir, Cedar, Ginkgo, Juniper, Cycas, etc.

Hope it helps
