HEEYEE MATE ❤️❤️❤️ HERE IS UR ANSWER....

HALOGENS AND ATOMS OR ELEMENTS WHICH HAS ONE ELECTRON IN ITS OUTERMOST ORBIT...

WE ARE HIGHLY ELECTRONEGATIVE..

THEY ARE AT THE EXTREME RIGHT POSITION OF THE PERIODIC TABLE...

WE ARE KNOWN AS HALOGENS BECAUSE THEY HAVE 7 ELECTRONS IN THE OUTERMOST SHELL....

AMONG ALL THE HALOGENS FLUORINE HAVING HIGHEST ELECTRONEGATIVE POWER..

AND CHLORINE HAS HIGHEST ELECTRON AFFINITY....

HOPE THIS WILL HELP YOU ❤️ ❤️❤️

STAY BLESSED ❤️ ❤️❤️

1. The group 17 of the modern periodic table consists of:
Fluorine
Chlorine
Bromine
Iodine
Astatine
These elements are known as the halogens.

2.The word Halogen is a Greek word which means salt producer.
=>These elements are called salt producers because chlorine, bromine, and iodine are highly electronegative in nature and form anions that constitute the anionic part of salts found in the sea water.

3.The halogens generally exhibit -1 oxidation state but chlorine, bromine, and iodine also exhibit +1, +3, +5 and +7 states.

4.The halogens are highly reactive in nature.
=>The reactivity of halogen family decreases as we move down the group.

5.Halogens readily accept electrons as they are short of one electron to form an octet. Hence, they have strong oxidizing nature.

6.Halogens are nonmetals.
