The class of compounds with identical functional group, composed of same elements having similar chemical properties which can be represented by the same general formula and where two successive members differ by CH2 group or whose molar mass differ by 14 are called homologous series.
eg:- auxalic acid and malic acid are two consecutive compounds of the homologous series.
