Hydrides are compounds of hydrogen where hydrogen is covalently bonded to the other atom

For example H₂O is a hydride of oxygen, NH₃ is a ahydride of nitrogen etc

Saline hydrides are compounds formed between hydrogen and the alkali and alkaline-earth metals of group one and two elements

For example NaH, CaH₂ etc

Covalent hydrides are hydrides formed when hydrogen reacts with p-block elements.

For example B₂H₆ , H₂O, CH₄ etc
