A hydrated salt is a crystalline salt molecule that is loosely attached to a certain number of water molecules.
For example : magnesium sulphate.
Anhydrous salts are salts whose associated water molecules have been removed. Ex: CuSO4.5H2O is hydrated Copper(II) Sulphate(VI) and is blue in colour. However after heating it becomes CuSO4- Anhydrous Copper(II) Sulphate(VI) which is white.
