Answer:

A hypotonic solution is a solution which has more concentration of water. The cells gain water and swell up if the surrounding media is hypotonic.

A hypertonic solution is a solution which has less concentration of water. The cell loses water and shrinks if the surrounding media is hypertonic.

An isotonic solution is a solution which has exactly the same concentration of water as that in a cell. The cell's size remains unchanged. An equilibrium is maintained.

Hope this helps!!!

Don't forget to rate accordingly!!!!
