A molecule that contain one or more main group elements apperantly bearing more 8 electron in there valence shell . Example PF5 and SF6

A hypervalent molecule is a molecule that contains one or more main group elements apparently bearing more than eight electrons in their valence shells. Phosphorus pentachloride (PCl5), sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), chlorine trifluoride (ClF3), IF7 are the examples of hypervalent molecules.
