  \underline{\huge{ \red{ \bf \: INDICATORS}}}

✒ Indicators is a substance which shows different colours in an acidic and basic medium.

✒ Acids and bases can be identified not only through their taste but also with the help of substance called indicators.

✒ A very popular indicator which is often used is Litmus Paper. Litmus can be used as an indicator in the form of solution but in the practice it is more common to use paper strip. Litmus is obtained from lichens and in purple colour.

Now Let's perform the activity by using Litmus Paper in acidic and basic medium .

 \\ \underline{\huge{\blue{\bf For \ Acidic \  Medium}}}\\ .

✒ Take some lemon juice (organic acid) in a petridish. Now drop the paper of blue Litmus Paper in in the lemon juice . Now we will observe that the colour of the Litmus Paper changes to red due to the present of acid solution in the lemon juice .

\\ \underline{\huge{\blue{\bf For \ Basic \  Medium}}}\\ .

✒ Take some soap solution (Base) in a petridish . Now drop the paper of of red litmus paper in the soap solution. now we will observe that the colour of Litmus Paper changes to blue. The reason behind the changing of the colour of Litmus Paper is the present of a base in the soap solution.
