As uh are in 7th std,I would give uh some basic informations about Indicators :)

Indicators are chemicals or substances that are used to indicate whether a given solution is acidic,neutral or basic.

\bf\red{Types \:of\: Indicators:}

Natural Indicators:

These are naturally occuring substances used to determine the nature of the solution.

Examples:

1. Turmeric

Its yellow in acids and turns red with bases.

2. China Rose solution

Its dark pink with acid and green colour with base.

3. Beetroot solution

It doesn't change colour with acid but turns yellow with bases.

4. Litmus solution

Blue litmus turns red with acids and red litmus turns blue in with bases.

Synthetic Indicators:

These are the artificially synthesized chemicals used to determine the nature of the solution.

Examples:

1. Phenolphthalein

It turns pink in basic medium and turns colourless with acidic solution.

2. Methyl Orange

It turns red colour with acids and yellow colour with bases.
