In chemistry, INDICATORS are chemical substances which change colour/smell when they are dipped/dissolved in another substance of unknown pH value.

We use indicators to determine the acidity or alkalinity of any substance.

♦ E.G. Litmus solution, Litmus Paper, Methyl orange, Phenolphthalein, Turmeric, Onion, Clove oil, Vanilla essence, etc.
