What are inner transition elements? why are they so called ? How many series of inner transition elements are present in the modern periodic table? Write their names and atomic number. which of these two series contains only radioactive elements? Name any three radioactive elements which are used in atomic bombs.

  • Inner transition metals are those elements in which the last electron enters the f-orbital. The elements in which the 4f and the 5f orbitals are progressively filled are called f-block elements.
  • These includes lanthanoids (Z=58−71) and actinoids (Z=90−103).

  • Elements with atomic numbers 59, 95 and 102 are inner transition elements.

=> The actinide series only contain radioactive elements.

Q. Name any three radioactive elements which are used in atomic bombs.

=> The isotopes uranium-235 and plutonium-239 were selected by the atomic scientists because they readily undergo fission.

I'm also in 10, #Inbox me.

Thanks..
