Answer:

ANSWER

On the basis of its position, meristem is grouped as apical, intercalary and lateral meristem.

Apical meristem is present at the tips of root and shoot and give rise to primary permanent tissue systems.

The apical meristem, which is separated from apices due to formation of permanent tissues in between, is termed as intercalary meristem. It is intermodal in position and carries out localized growth.

Lateral meristem is present along the sides and increases girth of the plant.

Explanation:

1.Intercalary meristem

Intercalary meristems are capable of cell division, and they allow for rapid growth and regrowth of many monocots.Intercalary meristems at the nodes of bamboo allow for rapid stem elongation, while those at the base of most grass leaf blades allow damaged leaves to rapidly regrow.

2.plants, especially grasses, is the intercalary meristem. These cells possess the ability todivide and produce new cells, as do apical and lateral meristems. They differ, however, in being situated between regions of mature tissue, such as at the base of grass leaves, which are themselves located on mature stem
