The molecules in solid, liquid and gas are joined together by the following forces:

Van der wals force occurs due to the interaction between the molecules.

Ion-ion interaction occurs due to the electrostatic force of attraction Ion- dipole force due to positive and negative charges

Gasses are equipped with van der wal forces of attraction while solids have ionic forces.

The force of attraction beteeen particles of matter is called intermolecular force. It is of two types - cohesive and adhesive force.
As it is related with three of matter because due to their state depends on it how it tightly or lossely attract particle of matter in that state.
