Involuntary Muscles :
- They are also known as Non-skeletal muscles
- They are found in visceral organs
- They don't have any transverse line, thus are also known as unstriated muscles.
- Their contraction and relaxation can not be controlled by will, thus they are also called Involuntary Muscles.
- Contractile fibres are found in cytoplasm.
- The contractile fibre is called myofibril.
- Autonomic nerves are connected to these muscles.
- They are spindle shaped.
- Their contraction period is much longer than any other muscle, but they remain contracted for a short period of time.
- The cells are connected by gap-junction.
