An ion is defined as an atom or molecule which has gained or lost one or more of its valence electron, giving it a net positive or negative electrical charge. In other words, there is an imbalance in the number of protons (positively charged particles) and electrons (negatively charged particles) in a chemical species.
and 2 Types of iones :=>>

Cation:  A positively charged particle in a molecule is called cation.
Example: Na+, Ca+2.

Anion:  An anion is a negatively charged particle in a molecule.
Example: F-, Cl-.

I hope this helps U :-)
