Irreversible reactions : The reactions which after forming products can't give reactants back. The reaction which proceeds in only One Direction . These types of reactions are called Irreversible reactions.

Characteristics :
1) The symbol ( → ) indicates irreversibility of reactions
2) These are also known as Unidirectional reactions .
3) The reactions don't move backwards .That is, The reaction don't move in backward directions.
4) Reactions in which gaseous products are formed are reversible if carried out in open vessel.
5) Generally, combustion, precipitation, ionic, explosion are irreversible.

Examples :
1) Thermal decomposition
2) Decomposition of Ammonium nitrite .
3) Redox & Combustion reactions .
4) Precipitation reactions
5) Neutralisation of strong acid & strong base .
