hey there

ISOBARS: differ in atomic number (or number of protons) but have the same mass number.

An example of a series of isobars would be 40S, 40Cl, 40Ar, 40K, and 40Ca.

The nuclei of these nuclides all contain 40 nucleons

however, they contain varying numbers of protons and neutrons.

ISOTOPES:There are a couple of common ways to indicate isotopes,

For example, an isotope with 6 protons and 6 neutrons is carbon-12 or C-12. An isotope with 6 protons and 7 neutrons is carbon-13 or C-16.
