Isotopes are the elements that have the same atomic number but different mass number.
It is because they have the same number of protons but different number of neutrons.
For example:-
Hydrogen has three isotopes, namely
Protium, Duetrium and Tritium.
All of them have the same atomic number i.e. 1 but different mass numbers :- 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
