jumping genes are the transposable element (TE) are sequences of DNA which literally jump in and out of genomes.

i.e.a Gene or a set of genes capable of inserting copies of themselves into other DNA sites within the same cell.

significance:-the characteristics of bacterial mobile genetic elements are presented in the relation of genes and to the occurrence of complex assemblies of transposons or plasmids.
